SAMY BRISS

SAMY BRISS

08/04/2025-17/05/2025

Samy Briss has created an extensive body of pictorial works between Romania, Israel and France up until now, drawing inspiration from cities and villages’ scenes, religious icons and from various artists representative of the 20th century European culture such as Paul Klee, Victor Brauner or Marcel Janco — co-founder of dadaism — which he met in the 1950s. Marcel Janco praised “the modern, severe, well-constructed and harmonious compositions that abound in Briss’ work”. As he put it; “Even the technique and sober colors inspired by Byzantine iconography are well mastered. (…) Briss’ work must be recognized for its freedom of expression in composition and drawing, which with all its poetry draws us into the depths of dreams”.
Deux filles à la plage will be exhibited at Galerie Minsky alongside more than twenty paintings and sculptures by Samy Briss from April 8th to May 17th 2025. Opening on April 5th 2025 from 3pm with the artist in attendance.
